Dave Hawley, Woodturner
Dave has been fascinated with wood for over 30 years, with a focus on woodturning during the last 12 years. He enjoys making bowls, vessels, platters, and boxes, but also has fun making one-off sculptural work, magic wands, and craft and utility items. He experiments with carving, piercing, texturing, coloring, and pyrography (wood burning) to enhance his work. He uses sustainable resources and re-cycles as much as possible, primarily using domestic and re-purposed wood (saved from the landfill). His shop is solar powered. His finishes are food-safe. His work may be seen in galleries and gift shops in Colorado - use "Contact" for current information. He is a member of two Chapters of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW) - Front Range Woodturners (FRW) of Denver, and Rocky Mountain Woodturners of Loveland, as well as AAW, and has demonstrated and mentored at the Chapters, galleries, and in his shop.
In the picture Dave is demonstrating at a gallery using his mini-lathe. He turns primarily on a much larger lathe (850 pounds) in his basement workshop in Boulder. Dave’s goal is that purchasers of his art will find joy in viewing, handling, and using the art he creates. Dave turns custom pieces, demonstrates, and instructs - please use "Contact" to seek more information. |
